Prospect Presents at NAFEMS Conference

Aberdeen, Scotland, (Nov. 9, 2012) — Prospect's Engineering Manager Dr. John White and Engineer David Jamieson presented at the NAFEMS Multiphysics Simulation European Conference on the 16th and 17th of October held in Frankfurt, Germany. The conference described the advances in state-of-the-art methods and demonstrated the benefits of Multiphysics simulation within the context of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE).

Dr. White presented the paper titled "A Multiphysics Engineering Design Process for the Marine Environment". Prospect were required to design an offshore floating storage device. A team of multi-disciplined engineers worked in an iterative manner on this study which included hydrodynamic, finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software.

Engineering Manager Dr. John White

Mr. Jamieson's paper was titled "A Dynamic Body Fluid Interaction Simulation of Fracture Initiation". Prospect was asked by a client to estimate the ball drop times of multiple fracture balls moving through a completion. Prospect used Dynamic Body Fluid Interaction (DBFI) and Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulations to validate closed-form classical fluid mechanic calculations. These simulations involved the use of overlapping and morphing computational grids. The resulting ball drop times were in very close agreement with a third-party's empirical data.

Engineer David Jamieson

Dr. White commented "the conference was very worthwhile and was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Prospect's capabilities and services". Many companies attended the conference and all presentations were very well delivered and received. The conference was a huge success and was a great way for Prospect to show they are the advanced engineering consultant of choice.
