Prospect's Big Kids Golf Challenge Cup

Aberdeen, Scotland, (June 20, 2012) — Prospect, a Superior Energy Services company, participated in the Befriend a Child fifth annual Big Kids Golf Challenge Cup on 25 May.

Befriend a Child was formed in 1975 to meet the needs of children and young people. It is Scotland's oldest befriending service for deprived and vulnerable children. This year the Big Kids Golf Challenge Cup was held at Oldmeldrum Golf Club where 64 golfers, representing 16 teams, took part.

Magnificent sunshine was enjoyed by all of the competitors for the duration of the day. They were also able to participate in a raffle, auction, drinks buggy and ‘Beat the Pro' challenge. The day was helped hugely by the beautiful weather which played a big part encouraging contenders in contributing to the £6,000 that was raised. This will go towards Befriend a Child's on-going effort in helping disadvantaged young people in Aberdeen city and shire. Prospect did not win the event but came a close second so a prize was still won!

Colin Shellard, Prospect General Manager, who was team captain for the day comments: "Prospect was delighted to be enter a team into the Befriend a child golf day, on a fabulous day (a rare thing so far this year) it was a great way to entertain clients and give something back to the community at the same time. After assembling a top class team, and playing very well on the day, we were delighted to manage a second place finish (even if we thought we might have secured the top prize). Many thanks to Befriend A Child, and all of the other competitors for making it such a fantastic day".

Alan Sanderson, Communications and Funding Officer at Befriend a Child added: "The fifth annual Big Kids Golf was a fantastic day and our best supported yet. We raised over £6,000 which was no doubt helped by the brilliant weather. Prospect performed very well on the day and were unlucky to finish in 2nd place. Thanks for the continued support!”
