HB Rentals builds highest-specification cabins for Norwegian market, first cabin already on year-long rental with Weatherford

Global, (Nov. 23, 2009) — GLOBAL modular accommodation specialist HB Rentals has invested £500,000 in building six of the world's highest-standard modules for the offshore industry - and has already delivered the first of these to Weatherford on a year-long contract.

The Norsok, DNV 2.7-1 certified and A60-rated Zone 1, 20ft x 8ft engineering units were specifically manufactured for the Scandinavian marketplace, where all assets must adhere to the most stringent standards in the industry.

Weatherford Norge has now taken one of these cabins on a year-long rental contract, with options to extend, worth around GBP £40,000 (USD $60,000) for use on the Rowan Gorilla VI as a drillers' cabin

The module was modified, with a repositioned entry hatch, and delivered in eight days from Aberdeen.

George Emslie, managing director of HB Rentals' base in Aberdeen, says: "Our investment in building these new, Norsok-certified engineering cabins is further evidence of our commitment to meeting continually rising demand worldwide.

“The Norwegian sector has the highest accommodation standards in the oil and gas industry, meaning that access to Norsok modules is a necessity for the marketplace. We have long experience in constructing, modifying and delivering these units - and providing maintenance and support through our Stavanger base.

“Weatherford are long-standing clients and our continued work with them and major operators and contractors continues to fuel our fleet expansion plans. We have already invested £10million in growing our range of units in the last year and we will continue to produce new modules as demand continues to grow.”

HB Rentals has more than doubled the size of its office and manufacturing base at Howe Moss Drive at Dyce, Aberdeen in the last year as it responds to rising demand throughout the UKCS, Caspian, Africa and Middle East.

HB Rentals' cabins provide staff with safe-area working conditions and can be configured for almost any kind of use - from equipment room to laboratory, workstation, office facilities and even a galley.
