Wild Well Control Gives Back to the Industry
Houston, (Aug. 20, 2008) — Well Control Training, the training division of Wild Well Control Inc., a Superior Energy Services company, is working with the Petroleum Engineering Departments of various US colleges and universities to enhance the skill set of graduating seniors. Well Control Training conducts well control certification classes, as per the International Association of Drilling Contractors' (IADC) WellCAP® program in the college classrooms. Students successfully completing the course are now able to enter their career in the oil and gas industry with a valid well control certificate.
"Too often we have found that new graduates are thrown into well control situations that rapidly escalate beyond their knowledge and abilities," said Patrick Campbell, president and CEO of Wild Well Control. "This certification will improve each student's knowledge and job prospects and provide important value within the industry."
Well Control Training works with the various student organizations and alumni associations to provide the well control training to the graduating seniors at a very nominal amount. Some classes include alumni members as well as graduating seniors allowing professionals already in the industry to interact with the new generation of workers entering the oil and gas industry.
The program began in 2005 with Marietta College in Ohio and has grown to include 10 colleges and universities.
